. Past Progressive/ Continuous
الماضي المستمر
تحدثنا فى المقال السابق عن زمن من أزمنة اللغة الإنجليزية Simple Past الماضي البسيط ، وفي هذا المقال ان شاء الله سنتطرق لزمن من الازمنة المهمة في اللغة الإنجليزية وهو الماضي المستمر Past Progressive/ Continuous فأكمل القراءة حتى تعرفه .
It indicates an action
going on at some time in the past.
يدل على فعل مستمر
في الماضي

Form:
(To be) was/were +(Verbing)

E.g.
I was practicing sports for the last two years.

كنت
امارس الرياضة السنتين الاخيرتين

Use: الاستعمالات
We often use the past continuous:
Ø To describe
an unfinished/ongoing action in the past.لوصف فعل غير منتهي
/مستمر في الماضي
E.g. It was raining when he went to school.
كانت تمطر عندما
ذهب للدراسة
E.g. While I was waiting for the bus, I saw a pretty girl
with her parents
عندما كنت انتظر
الحافلة. رايت بنت جميلة مع والديها
Ø For two actions in progress at
the same time in the past.

لفعلين
مستمرين في نفس الوقت
Ø
E.g. manar was waiting for her mother and
listening to a podcast to learn new
things
Ø
كانت منا تنتظر والدتها و
تسمع الى بودكاست لتتعلم أشياء جديدة
Ø To say say that something
happened (past simple) in the middle of something else (past continuous):
Ø
لقول ان شيء/فعل حدث في وسط شيء/فعل اخر
E.g my phone was ringing when I woke up.
هاتفي
كان يرن عندما استيقظت
E.g. I cut my finger while I was cooking.
قطعت اصبعي حين كنت
اطبخ
.
Ø To describe
arrangements لوصف ترتيبات
E.g. Bouchra was preparing a surprise for her
كانت
تحضر بشرى مفاجىة لعائلتها
Compare I was doing (past continuous) and I did (past
simple):
مقارنة
بين كنت افعل و فعلت
I was doing (= in the middle of an action) كنت افعل (في وسط عمل/فعل)
E.g. We were going to the beach when I met my friend.
(In the middle of going to the beach )
كنا
ذاهبين للبحر عندما التقيت برفيقتي ( في منتصف الذهاب الى الشاطئ).
I did
(= complete action) لقد
فعلت ( فعل منتهي)
We ate ice cream after we had dinner.
اكلنا المثلجات بعد
العشاء
